Medical Needs
At Fairisle Junior School we do all we can to support children with medical conditions.
If your child has a medical condition it is vital you read our school policy. Key to keeping your child safe is strong communication between school, home and medical professionals, as well as children being aware of their own role in managing their condition.
In some cases an Individual Healthcare Plan may be needed. This may be for conditions such as:
- Allergies/Anaphylaxis
- Asthma
- Diabetes
- Epilepsy
Mr Hayes is in charge of Individual Healthcare Plans and can be contacted through the school office.
If your child has been prescribed medication we can administer this in school but you need to complete one of two forms. One form is for short-term medication and one is for long-term medication. We cannot administer medication without these forms being completed or without a prescription. However, you can come in to administer medication yourself.
If your child needs a Salbutamol inhaler we can provide this if for any reason the inhaler is unusable or unavailable. For this we need your consent. Please complete this form and hand it in to the School Office.
If in doubt just ask, we are happy to help!
